… A Minute Meditation

At the Last Supper Christ told us “This is my commandment: Love one another as I have loved you” and He explained that love like His is selfless. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” We must give up our life to find it. For when we put to death our selfish inclinations and reach out to help those in need around us our hearts expand and God fills us with his love and joy and peace. The world tells us that the good life is a life of ease and pleasure and advises us to find fulfillment in self-aggrandizement. But the pursuit of pleasure never brings happiness and ends at the grave. Selfless love like Christ’s, on the other hand, makes our life on earth fulfilling and leads to eternal happiness in heaven.
