… A Minute Meditation
August 28, 2009
The woman who for twelve years had suffered from a flow of blood was desperate. Her condition made her unclean by Jewish Law and anyone whom she touched was unclean. She was cured when she touched Jesus’ garments as the crowd was milling around Him. When Jesus demanded, “Who touched my clothing?” she came forth “frightened and trembling.” She had passed her ritual uncleanness to Jesus.Christ, however, did not ask her to come forward to rebuke her. He was not concerned with legal impurities, for He let a prostitute wash His feet with her tears and went to the houses of publicans and sinners. He wanted to let this woman know she did not have to seek a cure by stealth. He wanted to praise her faith. He wanted to assure her of His compassion for her and encourage all of us to approach Him in our needs.
