“Fear is useless.  What is needed is trust.” (Mark 5:37)

READINGS:
1.Wisdom 1:13-15; 2:23-24
2. Job 38: 1, 8-11
3. 2 Corinthians 5:14-17
4. Gospel of Mark 4:35-41

REFLECTION:  In the Gospel reading today, we are asked to wonder which comes first, faith or healing.  With the Lord, it does not matter which comes first, for He is the giver of both the faith and the healing.  He gives us what we need to be healed and then heals us.  He does it all.  Our job is simply to let Him.

PRAYER:  Lord, fill us with trust and faith and open our hearts to your healing power.  May your touch free us of our wounds and sickness and may our faith ever increase.  Amen.

FAMILY DISCUSSION/ACTIVITY:

Monday:
Think today of one way in which you could build greater trust among your family.

Tuesday:
Does your family need healing in any special way?  Talk about this at the dinner table or sitting down together after dinner.

Wednesday:
Pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary with your family tonight.

Thursday:
Continue today or renew your trust in your parish as family.  Get involved in a church-related activity.

Friday:
Think today of your money which says, “In God We Trust.”  Contribute to a charity today.

Saturday:
Take time today to reflect on next Sunday’s readings:
Ezekiel 2:2-5
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
Mark 6:1-6

PRAYER:
We trust in You, O Lord.  Our souls trust in Your Word, and we wait for You more than the watchman waits for morning.  We are like children who hope in You now and forever.  Amen.
